Dr. Louay Mohammad Al-Husainat from the Department of Clinical Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine/YU was honored with a group of young faculty members at Yarmouk University as part of the activities of the symposium organized by the Queen Rania Center for Jordanian Studies and Community Service and the Center for the Development of Sustainable Development Studies at Yarmouk University entitled "Jordanian Youth and the Outputs of Higher Education" with the participation of the Minister of Youth and moderated by the President of the University, Dr. Islam Massad.
Al-Hussainat had won the award for the best scientific research presented at the ROMA PAIN DAYS 2023 conference, which was organized by the Paolo Procacchi Foundation in the Italian capital, Rome, during the period from 15-17 of last June.
The awareness campaign " Kidney Health for All" was held under the supervision of Faculty of Medicine / YU represented by Dr. Mohammad Alzoubi , the assistant professor in Urology - CMS department. This activity goes within the annual campaign of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN). The organizing committee from 5th year medical students (VIM batch) was as follows: Yara Kasasbeh, Alia Obeidat, Ilham Smadi, Nidal Alzoubi, Husam Tashtoush, Rahaf Jaradat, Omar Foqahaa, Alaa Tawalbeh and Mohammad Bataineh.
Many students volunteered for the purpose of this activity to succeed, they are: Ahmad Hadar, Sarah Alghzawi, Tasneem Bani Fawwaz, Ronza Nimrawi, Lana Zoraiqat, Ghosoon Atom, Lujain Bani Irshaid, Hala Qazaq and Dana Abu Fanas.
The activities were supposed to be held in two days but they were extended for a third day due to the success and the request of audience.
The first day was Sunday Aug. 20th, 2023 when brochours were distributed to YU students, doctors , administrative cast in YU and visitors from outside the university. Questions were answered by the organizing team and the volunteers.
In the Second day, Monday 21st, 2023 An interactive lecture by Dr. Mohammad alzoubi and a discussion between the lecturer and the audience moderated by the organizing committee students. The Third extra day (Tuesday Aug. 22nd, was done in Alhussein bin Abdullah lecture halls complex where again brochures were distributed and discussions between medical students and the visitors regarding kidney health were done and the inquiries were answered.
In the first day about 200 visitors were served, 100 attended the lecture and shared in the discussions in the second day and about 200 were received in the third day. The attendees of the University students and the teaching and administrative staff expressed their admiration of the activities and the effort done by the students and the Faculty of Medicine and asked for more awareness campaigns regarding health issues that is common in the community.
Under the patronage of Prof. Islam Massad -the president of Yarmouk University , Prof. Manar Al-Lawama the Dean of Faculty of Medicine opened the activities of the "White Coat Ceremony" which is an annual ceremony celebrating the end of the basic medical studies stage of one of the faculty batches and the start of the clinical stage. This year The Faculty of Medicine celebrated (Aoun batch) which enrolled the Faculty in 2020. The ceremony strted on the the morning of Tuesday Sept. 12th, 2023 in Al-Kindi Hall-Faculty of Arts campus. The attendees were the families of Aoun batch students, the deanship members and number of the teaching and administrative staff in addition to the students.
Prof. Al-Lawama spoke to the students, congratulted them and their families for the three basic years accomplishment and encouraged them to work hard in the clinical years.The students held many activities during the ceremony; talks to thank their families and their teachers, memorial videos , honoring basic medical sciences BMS teachers represented by the chairman of the BMS department Dr. Maryam Alomari and traditional folk dance rings celebrating a milestone of their medical studies.
Prof. Waleed Almomani the vice dean and number of BMS teaching staff walked to the stage helping the students wear their white coats as a signal of the launch of new stage in their studies.
The Celebration was well prepared with many decorative backgrounds done by Aoun batch students, Thanks to the organizing committee of the students Hammam Dawaghreh, Ilana Ibdah and Mais Freihat , helped with number of their colleagues from the younger batches.
Faculty of Medicine participated in the International Conference on New Trends in Business Environment held on Aug. 23rd and 24th, 2023 in Dead Sea area. Dr. Romany Helmy Thabit Gerges - the assistant Professor in Basic Medical Sciences Department (BMS) via a joint research with Dr. Lubna Baqleh , the assistant professor in Faculty of business.
The research entitled
"Contemporary Challenges of Lean Healthcare Implementation: Evidence from Jordan"
was presented today by Dr. Gerges
Yarmouk University encourages Joint researches between different faculties and with other institutions. This research is an example of the application of this orientation.

A scientific seminar dealing with medical ethics in health issues with legal and religious impacts was held today morning (Wednesday Aug. 23rd, 2023). This seminar was under patronage of the Dean of Faculty of Medicine/YU Prof. Manar Al-Lawama. The title of the seminar was: 'The medical ethics of abortion and methods of assisted pregnancy/ The opinions of religion and law'
The speakers who gave the the opinions of Christianity and Islam religions, Medicine and Law were Father Dr. Refaat Badr (Director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Information in Jordan), Prof. Adam Noah Al-Qudah (Professor of Islamic jurisprudence and member of the Jordanian Iftaa Council), Prof. Laith Nasraween (Professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Jordan) andDr. Soha Al-Beitawy (Consultant gynecologist (Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility), the assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine - Yarmouk University).
The session moderators were Prof. Youssef Obeidat (Dean of the Faculty of Law) and Prof. Manar Al-Lawama (Dean of the Faculty of Medicine).
This activity was attended by a large group of teaching and administrative staff, university students from different specialties and visitors from local community who were interested in the subject
An awareness activity for kidney health is launched by Faculty of Medicine.
It's a two day campaign Sunday20-8-2023 When the medical students meet the attendance in the second floor of Prince Al-Hussein Bin Abdullah lecture halls complex to give brochours and share the medical advice about kidney health. In the second day (Monday 21st of August 2023) , an interactive activity will be held in the Potash lecture hall in Prince Al-Hussein Bin Abdullah lecture halls complex.
The activity is moderated by Dr. Mohammad Alzoubi, the urology consultant and the assistant Professor in CMS-FM/YU
