Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University organizes a workshop to activate the integration between basic and clinical medical sciences
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University, Prof. Manar Al-Lawama patronized the workshop organized by the Department of Basic Medical Sciences in cooperation with the Department of Clinical Medical Sciences to activate the integration between basic and clinical medical sciences for body systems courses, review their contents and organize the work of their specialized committees. The workshop dealt with the basic sciences that are covered in the various body systems courses, which include anatomy, histology, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, biochemistry, and public health. The workshop also discussed the overlap of these sciences in clinical medical sciences and their applications in various clinical cases. The organization of this workshop, in which department heads and faculty members participated, confirms the commitment of the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University to advance the teaching process based on its strategic plan emanating from the university's mission.
A workshop about using Open access data in medical research by Dr. saif Ad-deen Riyalat
Under the auspices of Prof. Manar Al-Lawama , the Dean a workshop titled : "Open access data source in medicine: the hidden treasure "
delivered by Dr. Saif Ad-Deen Al-Riyalat, an ophthalmologist and a distinguished researcher, ranked among the top 2% of the most cited researchers in the world, and who holds a medical patent.
The workshop talked about the medical data available for use in research with in an open access, where the researchers from any specialty could use by applying his new vision to the available information and conduct distinguished research without the need to collect new data. The importance of this data lies in the fact that it was collected from a large number of patients over long periods of time and stored in the form of databases that are freely available to researchers from all over the world.The workshop was held on Tuesday Jan. 17th, 2023. It was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Manar Al-Lawama, and a good number of faculty and administrative staff and students in the Faculty of Medicine.
Under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Manar Al-Lawama, An introductory session was held for students and graduates of the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University, entitled "Specialization in Britain and Ireland after graduation".
The first lecture was given by Dr. Mohammad Al-Zoubi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Medical Sciences and Consultant Urologist, then lectures by the graduates Dr. Fadi Abusel and Dr. Suhaib Al-Omari followed.
The lectures dealt with the requirements that the specialization needs in Britain and Ireland, how to start the specialization journey, the exams that must be passed and the registration process in the British General Medical Council.
This session was attended by the students and graduates interested in continuing medical training in Britain and Ireland. A discussion took place at the end of the session, in which the lecturers answered the questions of the attendees.
The completion of the local scientific competition for clinical stage students, and the winning team will represent our medical school in the national competition

The Medical Club invites all to attend the local scientific competition for clinical period students
The Medical Club invites all to attend the local scientific competition for clinical period students. The local competition will be held on Wednesday Jan. 23rd, 2023 at 1:00 pm under the auspices of the Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Manar Al-Lawama . The winners from the local competition will qualify to the national competition which will be held in Jordan University-Amman.
The place of the local competition will be in the FM/YU campus , in the Blue Auditorium.
Under the auspices of Prof. Manar Al-Lawama, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, a lecture entitled "Recent Innovations in Health Care" was held. It was delivered by Dr. Firas Bakri, the orthopedic surgery consultant with experience in modern medical technology. The lecture was held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
Deputizing for the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the President of Yarmouk University, Prof. Islam Massad, opened the activities of the conference “Developing an Innovative Curriculum for Medical Laws and Ethics”, which was organized by the Faculty of Medicine at the University on Wednesday and Thursday, November 30 and December 1, 2022, in the presence of the Chairman of the University’s Board of Trustees, Dr. Rowaida Al-Maaita, and the Senator Dr. Youssef Al-Qusous.
Prof. Massad , Prof. Al-Maaita, Prof. Manar Al-Lawama the Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Senator Al-Qusous gave speeches in the opening ceremony of the conference. They talked about defining a new curriculum of medical laws and ethics that correlates with the new advances in the modern life including the social media development, new medical technologies and modern ways of learning.
The conference program included holding a dialogue session in which the deans of the faculties of medicine in the Jordan University of Science and Technology, the Hashemite University, and the Al-Balqa Applied University participated, entitled "Teaching Medical Ethics and Laws in the Jordanian Medical schools: Reality, Need, and Challenges."
The conference program also included, on its first day, a scientific session that discussed several topics dealing with "medicine between ethics and law" and "medical responsibility in civil law and penal", "Medical Responsibility in Islamic Jurisprudence and Medical Ethics".
