E- learning in Yarmouk University was a center of interest in the last decade. It's importance prevailed during the COVID-19 lockdowns when it became the main source of teaching-learning process.
E-Learning Centre (ELC) @YU adopted Moodle as a Learning Management System (LMS) operating the e-learning platform as well as the online exam platform together with other platforms like QuestionMark.
Moodle is a free and open-source learning management system (LMS) written in PHP and distributed under the GNU General Public License. It is used for blended learning, distance education, flipped classroom and other e-learning projects in schools, universities, workplaces and other sectors.
In the E-Learning platform related to moodle, the teacher can interact with his students. A list of all registered students to that course is automatically entered to his E-learning account; so he can organize the course for them, put the syllabus and divide it over weeks or any time period suitable for her/his course.
It is a versatile platform that accepts many types of E-learning resources. like E-books, the lectures in many softwares like Word or Power Point, and links to videos (Many doctors opened personal YouTube channels for teaching purposes), sound files and websites on the internet. The teacher can use this platform for quizes during the course and assign students for homeworks.
Once a teacher or a student logs in to her/his Moodle account, she/he will automatically see the current course parts and sections on her/his screen, with no effort for manuall addition of them to the account.
