A delegation from the Faculty of Medicine participated in the second training workshop of the Competency Building Project for Clinical Teachers (Cap4Preceptors) at the University of Patras in Greece.
The project is funded by the European Union Erasmus and aims to create a program to develop the competencies of clinical teachers, including medical Faculties in the six Jordanian public universities.
Representing the President of Yarmouk University Prof. Islam Massad, the Vice President for Planning, Quality and Scientific Research, Dr. Fadia Mayyas, attended the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the “Principles of Disaster Medicine for Future Doctors,” which was organized by the Faculty of Medicine, in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Jumana Al-Sulaiman.
Throughout the course, in which 50 medical students participated with number of the faculty staff, A consultant in emergency medicine and disaster medicine and an education officer in the disaster medicine program at BIMDC Hospital in the United States of America, a faculty member at Harvard University in the United States, Dr. Fadi Issa gave his experience in Disaster Medicine through six online lectures over six weeks then in-house workshop over two days, each days started with a lecture and ended with a training Lab on the skills needed in disasters times. In the third day honoring the participants in a ceremony held in Faculty of Medicine campus on Tuesday Nov. 12th, 2024.
Faculty of Medicine- Yarmouk University Thanks Dr. Fadi Issa for his dedication and generosity in giving his time for our students and for the passion for his specialty that he planted in their hearts. The thanks extended for Dr. Soha Al-Beitawi the FM/YU staff that started this project as an idea and a dream that became a reality with her efforts.
After the issuance of the decision of the President of Yarmouk University to appoint Dr. Jomana Al-Sulaiman as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, the administrative and teaching staff of the Faculty extends all thanks and appreciation to the departing Dean, Prof. Manar Al-Lawama for her work and dedication to serving the faculty over the past two years, which contributed to its administrative and educational advancement and the renewal of its acquisition of local and international accreditations. We wish her success in her future tasks.
The Faculty staff also extends their congratulations to Dr. Jomana Al-Sulaiman for the university presidency’s confidence in her to carry this trust, and they wish her success in carrying the banner of the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University.
With greater pride, the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University announces the decision of the Council of the Higher Education Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission to approve the placement of the qualification “Doctor of Medicine Degree Program” / Yarmouk University in the seventh level of the Jordanian National Qualifications Framework.
The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Jumana Al-Sulaiman, confirmed that achieving this achievement comes as a result of the diligent and continuous work undertaken by the Faculty of Medicine to improve the quality and reputation of the “Doctor of Medicine” program, as an achievement formulated by the Faculty family, including the members of the teaching and administrative staff and students, to review the program files and complete the placement process.
Dr. Al-Sulaiman explained that accommodating this program ensures its conformity with the highest required national standards, and achieves quality in learning outcomes, which enables the Faculty to apply for specialized accreditations for each level of students’ educational achievement in an official manner to ensure recognition of the skills, knowledge, and competencies that the student has acquired in various universities in the manner itself.
The Dean indicated that this “placement” is in the interest of the Faculty’s students and graduates, and enhances the Faculty’s academic reputation, and increases the demand for the program that is compatible with the approved standards, in addition it will ensure the presence of an advanced reference for the Faculty and faculty members to review and develop the program and improve academic and professional performance.
In an inspiring step, A group of medical students under the title of ' inspiring team-Molhem" organized a reception ceremony for the new students that enrolled the Faculty of Medicine @YU in 2024-2025 academic year. This ceremony involved many activities with participation of the new students as a gesture of welcoming and as an ignition of the sense of belonging to their faculty and university.
We hope this start will encourage our new students to achieve and advance in their academic and social lives as well as to raise the name of their faculty and university.

Under the patronage of the Dean of Faculty Professor Manar Allawama An interactive webinar was organized for the students ( UK specialty guide from Jordan) presented by Dr Motaz Alsamdi ST3 , (Elected Trauma and Orthopaedic Lead for Core Surgical Training, North-West Deanery). Dr. Motaz explained the training system in UK and the methods of joining for Jordanian graduates. Students from different years attended the meeting. The meeting was organized by Dr. Soha Albeitawi
