The first edition of the Female Jordanian Doctor conference, which is organized by Jordan Medical Association started in Intercontinental hotel- Amman On Wednsday Nov. 24th, 2021 under the patronage of His Highness Prince Hassan Bin Talal. The conference activites will end on Nov. 26th, 2021
Dr. Suhair Qudsieh; the Assistant Professor in the Clinical Medical Sciences Department - CMS ( Obstetrics and Gynecology) represented Faculty of Medicine and its female doctors in the conference. She presented a new sytudy about the effect of lockdown during Corona pandemic on the health of pregnant women in Jordan.
The presentation was within the (obstetrics and Gynecology) session in the second day of the conference Today-Thursday Nov. 25th, 2021.
Faculty of Medicine YU held the first Clinical and Translational Research Day CTRD 1 on Wednsday Nov. 10th, 2021 under the patronage of the university president Prof. Islam Massad. The day started with a tour to cover all the research posters that our medical students participated in actively. Most of the researches are published, some are approved to be published and some are in the process of publication. Vice presidents, Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh the Dean of Faculty of Medicine and his colleagues the members of Deans' council and the Faculty of Medicine staff accompanied the president in the tour.
Medical students presented the abstracts of their researches to the audience, then they gathered in the main conference hall in the faculty campus to start the ceremony of the day. This ceremony started with the Royal anthem then reciting verses of Holy Quran. The toastmaster of the ceremony Dr. Rima Karasneh , the Assistant professor in the Basic Medical Sciences BMS department talked to the audience, thanked the university president for his patronage of the scientific day, and the dean of faculty of medicine for his continuous support of the students and faculty staff to perform research work. She praised the special friendly and professional relationship that pervades the academic atmosphere in our medical school.
Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh ,The Dean of Faculty of Medicine then talked to the audience. He thanked the president, vice presidents , his colleagues in the deans' council, Faculty teaching staff and medical students for being part of this scientific day. He talked about CTRD ehen it was an idea , and how did efforts, hard workd and creational thinking turned this idea into a reality. He thanked medical students and faculty staff for their enthusiasm in reseach work hoping that this day will be the first of annual CTRD days in the future for the sake of putting the Faculty of Medicine in distinguished position in world's scientific reasearch. Dr. Bashaireh called for this day to be a nucleus of other such activities for students' research in all the university faculties.
University President Prof. Islam Massad showed in his speech the interest of the presidency in the faculty of medicine, its students and staff and its activities. He appreciated the hard work of medical students in their researches, emphasizing the importance of research during medical schoold studies for every students, whatever the path she/he intends to follow after graduation academic or professional. Submitting a research is a prerequisite in the curriculum to get the MD. certificate.
Dr. Almutasem Khamis, a graduate in the last batch talked about his personal experience in research work since he was a medical student. How was the start, the efforts , the learning process the use of COVID lockdown time and the cooperation with faculty teaching staff. He encouaged medical students and graduates to give research work part of their passion and time.
Dr. Ola Soudah , the assistant professor in Basic Medical Sciences BMS department then presented the titles of the winner researches and the names of the winner researchers. The YU president and the Dean of Faculty of Medicine presented the certificates and prizes to the students and graduates winners.
The posters exhibition in the faculty of Medicine campus will be open for the audience for many days.
The front of the Faculty of Medicine building was illuminated with pink color starting from Thursday Oct. 28th, 2021 in solidarity with the national awareness camapign of breast cancer. It will be kept illuminated every evening till the end of campaign. this step came in response to the directives of the university president Prof. Islam Massad and in conjuction with the participation of Faculty of Medicine in the national and international awareness campaign of breast cancer.
The dean of Faculty of Medicine/YU Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh stated that 'this step is just one of many steps and events the faculty did to participate in the campaign, and it is a way to attract the attention of the local society who pass by the building to know the importance of the screening of this disease which is a killer if discovered late and curable if discovered early. Protection of our mothers, sisters, wives and daughters is the aim of these events'.
He added: 'The other events that were carried out by our teaching and admistrative staff and our medical students were the ceremony that was held under the patronage of the YU President that included many awareness lectures and a speech of a survivor that inspired the audience and touched their hearts. Another ativity was the teaching at booths where our students answered the question of the public about this disease and the prochures and the pink ribbons that were distributed, and finally the training session of self breast examination that was held in the skills lab in the faculty campus'.
On Thursday Nov. 11th, 2021 12:00 noon The Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh met the Clinical Medical Sciences department council lead by the head of the department Dr. Hasan Albalas. The meeting was attended by the Vice Dean Prof. Zain Alabideen Abdullah and the dean assistants for clinical teaching affairs.
The Dean and the CMS council discussed different issues regarding teaching process, update of the curriculum, clinical training of medical students in hospital and training centers. The meeting's agenda included the clinical practice of the teaching staff. Questions were answered by the Dean, and suggestions were presented by the CMS staff to improve the academic and professional atmosphere in the faculty of Medicine/YU.
The minutes of the meeting will be followed up and further meeting to get the updates was planned.

The breast cancer awareness day activities will start tomorrow Thursday Oct. 28th, 2021. Faculty of Medicine/YU activities come within the national awareness month dedicated for breast cancer. The YU activities will start at 9:00 am in a ceremony under the patronage of the president of Yarmouk University Prof. Islam Massad. After the royal anthem Dr. Asmaa Al-Mnayyes , The dean assistant for training and development and the ceremony toastmaster will present the Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh to give his talk, then the president of YU will be invited to give his speech , then the national program manager of breast cancer will talk to the audience and finally a survivor of breast cancer will present her experience. Following the talks six breif awareness lectures will be given by a number of Faculty of Medicine staff specialized in gynecology, oncology, pathology, radiology and oncology.
The booths of awareness run by medical students will spread in the main areas of the university throughout the day to give advices, present prochures and answer questions regarding screening, symptoms and signs and management of breast cancer. An awareness lecture about breast cancerwill be given at Yarmouk University Model School for the school students, and a training session for ladies to screen themselves personally (self screening) will be conducted in skills lab in the faculty of Medicine campus guided by our female gynecology doctors and female medical students.
The Dean of Faculty of Medicine Dr. Bashaireh invites all students, teaching and administrative staff of the university to participate in this awareness day.

As encouragement and support of the deanship of Faculty of Medicine YU to the medical students to engage in the research and academic activities, The Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh received the group of fifth year medical students (Glory Batch) who are currently attending the orthopedic surgery course to honor them for their involvement in the webinar part of the annual conference of Orthopedic Surgery, arthritis and Muskuloskeletal system. The physical part was held at the same time in Vienna, Austria on Nov. 8-9, 2021. Their attendance was under the affilation to Yarmouk University/Faculty of Medicine and was arranged and supervised by the assistant professors in Orthopedic surgery in the FM/YU Dr. Mohammad Akram Awwad and Dr. Adel Alshare the orthopedic surgery course coordinator. and with appreciated courtesy of SCIENTEX Conferences the organizers of the webinar.
The medical students attended the presentations done in the webinar online as a new learning experience in addition to lectures and clinical training.
Prof. Bashaireh talked to the students about the importance of attending conferences and then to get involved in research work and get use of such conferences to learn how to present scientific articles infront of a specialized medical audience. He emphasized the skills and personality refinement that such professional activities provide to doctors in their career. Then the Dean presented the conferences certificates that they deserved from the organizers of the webinar who appreciated the Yarmouk University medical students' participation which has a positive impression and shared in the conference success as was mentioned in a letter sent by them.

Faculty of Medicine held a major activity on Thuersday Oct. 28th, 2021 within its participation with the world's month of awareness of breast cancer. The whole day was full of activities and events in collaboraion with King Hussein Medical Center (KHMC) and the national program for breast cancer.
The day started by an opening ceremony under the patronage of the YU President Prof. Islam Massad. The ceremony was opened with the royal anthem and reciting verses of Holy Quran by a medical student. then Dr. Asmaa Almnayyes, the Dean assistant for training and development and the toastmaster of the ceremony thanked the university president and the dean of faculty of Medicine Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh for encouraging the faculty of Medicine activities and she greeted the manager of the national program for breast cancer Mrs. Reem Ajlouni.
Then she announced for the Dean's speech. Dr. Bashaireh thanked the YU president , KHMC and Mrs. Ajlouni for their support to let this awareness day succeed. He talked to the audience about the importance of the awareness of breast cancer in Jordan and the world as screening could detect the disease in its early stage to minimize life losses,major surgeries and expensive costs that are a burden on the patient's families and the health system.
Prof. Bashaireh invited the YU president Prof. Massad to the platform. Prof. Massad stressed on the importance of such activities and awareness days for the benifit of the society. He showed the interest of the university to work hand by hand with all the governmental and civil society organizations to make the awareness missions a success. He hoped that this medical day will increase the awareness of breast cancer and its screening in Jordan.
Mrs. Reem Ajlouni, the manager of the national program then talked to the audience thanking them for attending and thanked Yarmouk University and Faculty of medicine for their efforts to increase the awareness of breast cancer. She valued the positive response of women in the last few years to the awareness programs, but she urged for more activities during the whole year not only October the month of pink ribbons, as the statistics show that almost 1200 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed annulaly in Jordan, Unfortunately , most of them are in late stages.
A survivor lady then talked about her experience from the start when she was diagnosed to have breast cancer through her long treatment way till she was finally declared free of the disease. Her story touched the audience and inspired them to follow her advices to call every woman at risk to start screening.
Memorial shields were exchanged between the University President and the Dean of Faculty of Medicine from one side and Mrs. Ajlouni in the other side.
Lectures then started. Dr. Ghaith Hailat, the assistant professor in General surgery and the oncology surgeon gave two lectures one to get the audience aquianted with the disease, its symptoms and some relevant statistics. and he gave another lecture about modes of treatment used to traet breast cancer and the importance of individualizing the treatment according to the findings in each patient.
Dr Suha Beitawi, the assistant professor and Obstetrics and Gyencology consultant talked about the way of breast self screening. she called the ladies to learn and train for this in the training session that was held in the margin of this day in the skills lab in Faculty of Medicine campus under supervision of Dr. Beitawi.
Dr. Asmaa Almnayyes , the assistant professor in Radiology presented a lecture about the radiological investigations used to diagnose breast cancer and the proper time and age to do mammogram to screen for the disease.
Dr. Nesreen Bataineh, the Dean assistant for accreditation and Quality Assurance , the assistant professor in pathology talked about the biobsy types and ways to take them for the diagnosis of the breast cancer.
Last, Dr. Laila Matalqa gave a lecture about the healthy style and the ways to minimize the controlled risk factors of breast cancer.
After the end of the lectures session, The audience visited the booths that were distributed in the university, where medical students answer the questions about breast cancer, they presented the prochures and the pink ribbons to the attendees. Ladies had their chance to train in the skills lab about the best way of self screening.
The medical day continued till the sunset of Thursday, Afterwards the front of the faculty building was illuminated with pink color to pay the attention for this campaign for many nights till the end of the campaign in Jordan.
President of Yarmouk University Prof. Islam Massad and the Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Khaldoun Bashaireh participated in a meeting held by the education and youth committee in the Jordanian Parliament headed by Dr. Bilal almomani and attended actively by the PM's the members of the committee. The meeting was held on Monday Oct. 25th, 2021. The committee's guests were the presidents of the Jordanian universities that include faculties of medicine within their campuses, the deans of Faculties of Medicine in Jordan , the deputy of ministry of higher education and scientific research, the head of Accreditation and the head of Quality Assurance Commision of Higher Education Institutions AQACHEI.
The main issue discussed in this meeting was the World Federation of Medical Education-WFME accreditation of faculties of Medicine in Jordan which is essential for the recognition of these faculties internationally and a prerquisite for acceptance of the graduates of the faculties of medicine in the residency programs in advanced countries like USA.
