On Wednesday, 18 May 2022, the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences at Al-Ahliyya Amman University hosted Professor Dr. Mazhar Al-Zoubi, From Yarmouk University School of Medicine where he conducted an interesting scientific lecture to the audience about his research path and the latest results of his scientific studies along with his research team in the field of fertility at the molecular level.

On the sidelines of the lecture, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Tannani, Dean of the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences and Director of the Center for Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Research, hosted Professor Dr. Al-Zoubi in his office and exchanged talks on ways to enrich research cooperation. Dr. Al-Tanani accompanied Professor Dr. Al Zoubi on a tour of the Center for Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Research at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, accompanied by Dr. Hamdi Nusairat, where the latest research devices unique to the Center were demonstrated, where those devices will help increase the opportunities for research cooperation between Al-Ahliyya Amman University and distinguished scientists such as Professor Dr. Mazhar Al Zoubi.

Dr. Zeina Alami, Associate Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medical Sciences, said the lecture is one of a series of lectures aimed at sharing knowledge and expertise where she coordinates a series of scientific and research lectures at the behest of the Dean of the Faculty, on Wednesday of each week, and hosts scientists from within the university, sister universities and international universities, to expand the horizons of scientific research among faculty members and graduate students in the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences, as well as to enhance research cooperation between local and international scientific authorities.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Mazhar Al-Zoubi is a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at Yarmouk University School of Medicine, he is also an Assistant to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Scientific Research and Alumni and Foreign Relations. He holds a Doctorate in Experimental Molecular Oncology from the University of Pisa, Italy, a U.S. Fellowship in Scientific Research Ethics from the University of North Carolina, a Master of Clinical Biochemistry from the Jordan University of Science and Technology, a Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratories from the University of Jordan, and a Bachelor of Life Sciences from Yarmouk University. He has more than 85 papers published in international well-indexed journals and is an editor of special editions in several international journals and an arbitrator of many research studies in various internationally classified journals and has supervised and discussed several master's and doctoral dissertations in Jordan and Germany. Furthermore, he is an arbitrator for the accreditation of specialties in Arab universities, and project manager in the Erasmus Plus Program. At the end of the lecture, Dr. Mohammed Al-Tannani, Dean of the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences, presented Professor Dr. Al-Zoubi with a certificate of appreciation and the shield of Al-Ahliyya Amman University.

The Tenth International Medical Conference was held at the Professional Associations Complex, Irbid Branch, under the auspices of Prof. Khaled Al-Salem, President of Jordan University of Science and Technology, which is organized by the Medical Association, Irbid Branch, in partnership with the faculties of medicine at Jordan University of Science and Technology and Yarmouk University. The conference was held from 25-27 May 2022.

Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, was at the forefront of the participants from our medical school,who participated in managing one of the sessions. The following colleagues also participated as speakers in the conference:

Dr. Hasan Albalas, Who particiaptaed with his article titled ( The Utilization of the Paranasal Sinus Coronal Tomography Scans as a Predictor for the Anterior Ethmoidal Artery Course)

Dr. Wedad Aldolat , Who particiaptaed with her article titled ( Is Wearing a Face Mask Associated with Symptomatic Dry Eye Disease among Medical Students During the COVID 19 era? An online Survey.

A number of Yarmouk University medical students participated in the organization teams of the conference. Dr. Bashaireh , the Dean received a sheild presented to Faculty of Medicine/YU for its effective participation in organizing the conference and making it succesful.

The Deans Council in Yarmouk University decided to promote Dr. Jomana Al-Sulaiman , the pediatric specialist - Clinical Medical Sciences (CMS) department -Faculty of Medicine

from a rank of Assistant Professor to a rank of Associate Professor

The Faculty of Medicine participated in the activities of the “German Day- Deutscher Tag” , which was held by the Department of Modern Languages ​​at the Faculty of Arts - Yarmouk University in cooperation with the German Embassy and the German Cultural Exchange Authority DAAD. The cultural day was held on Tuesday May 24^th, 2022. Dr. Adel Al-Shari represented the Faculty of Medicine in this grand activity. Dr. Alshari is an assistant professor in orthopedic surgery and traumatology- Clinical Medical Sciences ( CMS) department.

the cultural events in this day were under the auspices of Prof. Musa Raba’a, Dean of the Faculty of Arts,  in the presence of the head of the Department of Modern Languages, Prof. Hussain Al-Raheel, and German language teachers, Prof. Mahmoud Al-Ali, Dr. Nabil Al-Awawdeh, Dr. Lamia Hammad, Director of the Language Center, and a number of faculty members from the department and the university. On the German side, the events were attended by Mr. Benjamin Schmeling, Director of the German Cultural Exchange Authority, and Mrs. Rahma Al-Tawara. A group of students in the department participated actively in the day events. 

It is worth noting that many of the faculty members at the Faculty of Medicine are graduates of some of the best German universities and practiced medicine in their university hospitals and are fluent in the German language.

Quality assurance board meetings continue, and this time the meeting was with the Clinical Medical Sciences faculty members. It was held in the morning of Sunday , June 5th, 2022

The meeting started with a speech by the Dean , Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh who clarified the steps that the quality board is following, in order to get the renewal of national and international accreditation. 

Then Dr. Nesreen Bataineh, the Dean assidstant for qaulity assurance issues talked about the standards that national and international accreditation bodies follow and where we reached by the committees established by the deanship to develop our quality assurance in the faculty.  She talked about the PLO's and CLO's that were verified by the deanship lately according to the committees work and faculty counselling. 

Dr. Mohammad Alzoubi the dean assistant for clinical training talked about the Academic Program standard as the most weighted standard in the evaluation of faculties of Medicine by accreditation bodies. He explained the details of this standard in our medical school. 

Prof. Zain Alabideen Abdullah, the vice dean talked about the exams and the evaluation process and statistical analysis used in the faculty to improve the evaluation process in the faculty. 

Prof. Mazhar Alzoubi, the dean assistant for scientific research issues talked about the axis of the scientific research enfarming it within quality standards, putting them all within the reach of researchers students or faculty members, so every researcher can march in the way of research with clear view and confident steps.

Then Dr. Asmaa' Almnayyes the dean assistant for development and medical training issues  talked about the axis of community service, and how important to document all the activities done for this purpose, as the faculty is a mirror of the community. 

It was agreed to expedite the role of the committees in the faculty and the CMS department and to enroll every faculty member in those committees and to get use of their talents , experiences and suggestions.  

IFMSA-Jo Yarmouk University local committee held an activity for medical students in one of the cafes in Irbid on Wednsday May 18th, 2022 . The project titled: armed with skills , the steps 2 and 3 of this project which were performed in this activity were (Splinting + injections and blood draw).

The splinting and casting part was supervised by Dr. Mohammad Akram Awwad , the orthopedic surgeon and the assistant professor in Department of Clinical Medical Sciences (CMS)- Faculty of Medicine/YU. Dr. Awwad gave a breif presentation about history of orthopedic surgery and the idea of splinting fractures as a first aid or casting as a treatment or part of treatment. Then he talked to the audience about the difference between casting materials, showig them the materials and how to do round casts and slabs in a proper way. then a casting workshop began where in each group of students, number of them did casting on eachother.

The other part of the workshop was about injections and blood draw and it was supervised by Mr. Saleh Abu Dalo who taught the students about the different techniques of giving injections , and the various types of needles and drugs before teaching the participants how to draw blood , in a safe and sterilized environment .

The organizing committee consisted of the students; Hashem Mansi , Tariq Haddad , Muneer Rawagah , Mohammad Dairy , Sleman Abu Alhayja’ , Mohammad Masadeh , Noor Bader , Thurayya Hani , Rahma Altamimi , Hashem Gharaybeh , Ali Omar and Nizar Hazaimeh.

A surgical team led by Dr. Saleh Abo Oroq , the Assistant Professor in Urology, Department of Clinical Medical Sciences ( CMS ) has done a surgical acheivement for Princess Basma Teaching Hospital by doing a Laser lithotripsy for kidney and ureteric stones for the first time in the hospital, using a flexible ureterorenoscopy. The surgical team also consisted of Dr. Ashraf Khasawneh and Dr. Majd Marji. The patient's postoperative status is excellent and was discharged in the next day.

The Anesthetist and ICU consultant Dr. Abdul Rahman Alawneh participated in the operation as well as the urology residents: Dr. Yousef Beshtawi, Dr. Alaa' Bdoor and Dr. Sulaiman Abu-Joudeh. The staff nurses Walaa' AlAbdeh, and Israa' Bani Ismael did the nursing job in the team.

Within the framework of the relentless pursuit of the Faculty of Medicine to ensure the quality of work and to extend its local and international accreditation, the Deanship of the Faculty of Medicine and the quality committees emanating from the Quality Assurance Advisory Board at the Faculty hold periodic meetings of its various committees.

On Thursday, June 2, 2022, a meeting of the Quality Assurance Advisory Board was held at the College of Medicine, headed by the Dean of the College, Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh with members of the Department of Basic Medical Sciences (BMS), in which the conferees discussed what the quality committees have reached with regard to the department, their suggestions and opinions regarding the progress of work in these committees in order to reach the higher interest of our medical school, the medical students and the educational process, thus raising the status of our emerging school to the ranks of major medical schools in the region and the world .

Dr. Bashaireh gave a presentation on the upcoming requirements for renewal and extension of accreditation and the activation of quality systems in the Department of Basic Medical Sciences and the Faculty. Then, the Dean Assistant of the Quality Assurance Affairs, Dr. Nisreen Bataineh talked about the detailed progress of the steps in this regard, what has been achieved and what is expected to be accomplished during the coming period. Then the Dean Assistant for Clinical Training Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Zoubi talked about the academic program, which is one of the quality standards.

And then Dr. Rami Al-Omari, the assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Medical Sciences (CMS), gave a summary about students' achievements in the medical licensing exams in the United States of America (USMLE) as a measure of the Faculty's educational competencies. After that, a discussion was held and suggestions were made regarding the agenda of the meeting between the Advisory Board for Accreditation and Quality Assurance in the college and the attendees from the Department of Basic Medical Sciences.

 Within the activities of the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University to serve the local community, and under the auspices of the Ophthalmology Division in the Clinical Medical Sciences (CMS) Department, a new medical day dedicated for the second grade students at the Yarmouk Model School. Dr. Wedad Dolat; the Assistant Professor in Opthalmology visited the class and gave the kids some instructions to protect their eyes, then she did eye examination both for the acuity of vision and the internal eye examination. This medical day took place this morning, Tuesday, May 10th, 2022.
