Within the interest of the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University to communicate with graduates and to maintain communication between graduates and their fellow students, the Faculty of Medicine, in cooperation with the International Federation of Medical Student Associations (IFMSA) - Yarmouk University, prepared an integrated project on (life after graduation) and the first of which was a lecture entitled “Requirements for obtaining admission in Residency Programs in USA. Three of the FM/YU graduates participated in presenting its paragraphs, and the keynote speaker was Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, a graduate of the first batch of the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University, who completed the requirements of the specialty in America and obtained a residency in the specialty of Neurology, which is one of the competitive specialties in the United States of America. Dr. Almothanna Manasreh and Dr. Baraa' Abu Ata as well gave the students some important notes during the activity.The lecture was held at 12 noon on Thursday 28-7-2022 in the auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine - Blue Hall. It lasted for three hours, including a break.
The event was under the auspices of Prof. Zain Al Abidin Abdullah, Vice Dean of the FM/YU, in the presence of Prof. Mazhar Al-Zoubi, Assistant Dean for Alumni Affairs and International Relations, and Dr. Nisreen Bataineh, Assistant Dean for Accreditation and Quality Assurance, a number of teaching faculty members, and a crowd of students of different academic years at the Faculty of Medicine.
The lecture began with a presentation by Dr. Mazhar Al-Zoubi for the lecture’s program and the lecturers. Then he gave the floor to the Vice Dean to deliver the Dean's speech, in which Prof. Zain Al-Abidin welcomed his daughters and sons, FM/YU graduates and students, and stressed on the importance of continuous communication between the Faculty and the Alumni, and between the students and Alumni with the help and support of their mother college. He continued: ‘Our Faculty is proud of the successes of its graduates in practical life after graduation. And that the Faculty's keenness to continue, consolidate and develop success, necessitated the establishment of this guidance program on (the life after graduation for a Yarmouk medical student) to guide her/him to the various fields of specialization inside and outside Jordan. As the program begins with introducing the specialization in America to our students, it will continue in upcoming lectures to cover specialization in Britain, Germany, Qatar and other countries that give the chance our students to specialize in their institutes."
Then Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani started his lecture by talking about the exams that qualify the student to obtain a license to practice training in the United States (ECFMG certificate) and enumerated them, highlighting all the details about the nature of these exams, starting with the USMLE step 1 exam and then the USMLE step 2 CK exam, and then talking about where these exams are held, their times, how they are held in detail, their costs, the books that are recommended to study for each of these exams, the changes that occurred in some exams and their alternatives, such as the USMLE 2 CS exam, which was stopped after the COVID 19 pandemic and was replaced by the OET exam that Dr. Muthanna Manasra talked about in details. At the end of the first paragraph, a detailed talk about the third part of the USMLE3 exam was given.Then, after the break, Dr. Al-Momani spoke about how to apply for the (Match Program) to match the choices of specialties and institutes that the student is candidate for, and about how to register electronically, the procedures for reconciling the options, the results, and what it costs to register in the program.
The talk was not only informative, but rather interactive with the students who were asking their questions about every detail and every point that needed an answer from Dr. Momani and his colleagues, who provided everyone with their own experiences to apply and succeed in these exams. The lecture was useful for the students who thanked their fellow graduates for the valuable information. The date of the remaining lectures for the event (Life after Graduation) will be scheduled soon.
Within the framework of the diligent work of the Faculty of Medicine to hold meetings with its partners from various sectors, a meeting was held with the partners from the Ministry of Health, represented by directors of different hospitals, heads of departments and colleagues in them, where the strategic plan of the Faculty of Medicine was discussed. Colleagues expressed their views on the nature and content of the plan, in addition to that, feedback from our partners in the Ministry of Health regarding clinical training and their suggestions for improving products and outcomes were heard by the members of the Deanship of the Faculty. Their observations about our clinical students who are training in the hospitals of the Ministry of Health were taken in consideration.
The Dean Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh explained to our partners the future plans regarding the study plan, including the change of instructions in granting the MD. degree at the Faculty of Medicine-Yarmouk University, and the subsequent modification in study plans for different years, including the inclusion of finding harmony between clinical and basic training so that it is given a clinical character in the basic sciences subjects in order to increase The efficiency of the body systems system and the method of evaluation.
After the discussions, the delegation of the Ministry of Health conducted a tour of the Faculty’s facilities and laboratories, accompanied by the dean, his deputy, his assistants and heads of departments in the Faculty. The delegation of our partners from the ministry was informed of the Faculty’s various capabilities during the tour.
The Dean of faculty of Medicine Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh and the deanship congratulate medical students, teaching and administrative staff and all Arab and Muslim worlds on (Eid Al-Adha 1443 H) that shines with the first light rays of Saturday July 9th, 2022. They wish pilgrims the acceptance and blessings, and wish every one who fasted, prayed and did the good deeds in the first ten days of 'Thee AlHijja'; the arabic holy month and Arafah day to have these good deeds accepted by Allah.

‘Requirements for obtaining admission to the specialization program in America’
The lecturer will talk about exams and how to prepare for them, how to build a well structured CV, and the costs that qualify the doctor to specialize in the United States of America.
Dr. Al-Momani is a graduate of the first batch of the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University, who has completed the requirements for the specialty in America and obtained a residency position in the specialty of Neurology; a competitive specialty in the US.
The lecture will be held tomorrow, Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 12:00 noon in the Blue Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine.
Note that a series of introductory lectures will be held for students about residency programs in a number of countries, including Britain, Qatar and Germany, Their schedule is to be determined later.

As part of the Faculty's endeavor to build international relations and establish local and international partnerships in projects related to health and academic work, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh met representatives of the INCLUDE project, which is supervised by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, in cooperation with the KIT Royal Tropical Institute and Belink Academy (from the Netherlands), the Higher Population Council, Yarmouk University - Faculty of Archeology and Anthropology and the People of the Mountain- Ahl Aljabal Charitable Society (from Jordan). Dr. Ruba Akash supervises the project at Yarmouk University from the Faculty of Archeology.
The visit comes to study the possibility of Faculty’s academic staff participation in this project. The project is concerned with finding more sustainable services and solutions for the sexual and reproductive health needs and reproductive rights of refugee youth in Jordan.
The Deans Council in Yarmouk University decided to promote Dr. Ramada R. Khasawneh a member of the teaching faculty members in Basic Medical Sciences Department (BMS) from a rank of Assistant professor to a rank of Associate Professor

Dr. Mohammad Al-Maqableh, the Assistant Professor in Family Medicine at Faculty of Medicine/YU gave a lecture on international standards for teaching clinical medicine on the campus of the Faculty of Medicine in front of a crowd of physicians who contribute to the clinical training of our students in the affiliated teaching hospitals.
In his lecture, he touched upon these standards and their types and how to implement and manage clinical training according to international recommendations to deliver clinical education to the desired efficiency according to the latest internationally agreed methods. Dr. Mohammad replied on various questions from colleagues after the end of his lecture.
It is worth noting that this lecture and similar ones will be held on the campuses of all the teaching hospitals in which the Faculty's clinical students study and in front of the clinicians who work in them.
The Deanship of Faculty of Medicine- YU received Dr. Erieni Christoforido, who is an officer of the international Erasmus project – (staff mobility for training program). Dr. Christoforido is an academic staff in Faculty of Nursing at the University of Thessaloninki, Greece.
The guest was received by the Deputy Dean, Prof. Dr. Zain Al-Abidin Abdullah, and the Assistant Dean, Dr. Laila Matalqa. During the meeting, they discussed opportunities to exchange faculty members between Yarmouk University and Aristotle University for the purpose of cultural and academic exchange. Then she was accompanied on a tour of the FM/YU campus and the different laboratories, especially the anatomy laboratories, which were established with the support of the Erasmus project.
The guest expressed her admiration for the Skills Lab, which is almost unique to Yarmouk University within the region. she wished the college further progress in the academic process.

Dr. Suhair Qudsieh, the consultant in obstetrics and gynecology, and the assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Medical Sciences (CMS); attended the event organized by the Refugees, Displaced Persons and Forced Migration Studies Center at Yarmouk University on the occasion of World Refugee Day, where a distinguished documentary film entitled “Mr Tanimoto’s Journey” was shown. The film talks about the story of identity and homeland,
The event was under the auspices of Prof. Islam Massad, The President of Yarmouk University.
Dr. Jesse Dizard, the director of the film and the professor of visual anthropology in the California State University and a visiting Professor in Anthropology deaprtment@ YU attended the event. After the showing the documentary film, a discussion took place between the audience and Dr. Dizard, the director.
The center will hold a special activity on Wednesday June 22nd, 2022, which is a workshop focusing in refugee affairs.
It is worth noting that Dr. Suhair Qudsieh is a member of the Refugee and Displaced ones Studies Center at the university and her membership comes as a contribution to serving the local community.
