The Faculty of Pharmacy/YU, in cooperation with the College of Medicine, held a free medical day on Sunday June 19th, 2022, at the Samoo’ School / Samoo’ Village in the Koura District. This day is part of the YU Faculties’ duties towards the local community; serving it and providing health care to the Jordanian citizen.

All are faculty members in the Department of Clinical Medical Sciences (CMS) at the Faculty of Medicine.
During this day, health care was provided to more than 1,000 residents of the village. This day was welcomed by the people of the area.
The Family of Faculty of Medicine/YU congratultes the Dean Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh for the new appointment as a member of the Board of Trustees in Aqaba University of Medical Sciences, wishing him all the success in serving the medical academic education in Jordan, praying to God to help him assume his new responsibilty.
The Faculty of Medicine participated in the activities of the “German Day- Deutscher Tag” , which was held by the Department of Modern Languages at the Faculty of Arts - Yarmouk University in cooperation with the German Embassy and the German Cultural Exchange Authority DAAD. The cultural day was held on Tuesday May 24th, 2022. Dr. Adel Al-Shari represented the Faculty of Medicine in this grand activity. Dr. Alshari is an assistant professor in orthopedic surgery and traumatology- Clinical Medical Sciences ( CMS) department.
the cultural events in this day were under the auspices of Prof. Musa Raba’a, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, in the presence of the head of the Department of Modern Languages, Prof. Hussain Al-Raheel, and German language teachers, Prof. Mahmoud Al-Ali, Dr. Nabil Al-Awawdeh, Dr. Lamia Hammad, Director of the Language Center, and a number of faculty members from the department and the university. On the German side, the events were attended by Mr. Benjamin Schmeling, Director of the German Cultural Exchange Authority, and Mrs. Rahma Al-Tawara. A group of students in the department participated actively in the day events.
It is worth noting that many of the faculty members at the Faculty of Medicine are graduates of some of the best German universities and practiced medicine in their university hospitals and are fluent in the German language.
The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Board of Faculty of Medicine held a meeting with a group of our medical students from all academic years, representing their colleagues, within its periodic meetings with all members of the Faculty of Medicine, including faculty members, administrative staff and students, as well as with representatives of the local community, which represents an organic partnership with the FM/YU. This meeting with the medical students came to introduce them to the faculty’s steps in the field of quality assurance and accreditation and their main and essential role in it, as they are the focus of the academic process, and their graduation as doctors at a high level of competence is the most important goal of our medical school goals. The meeting took place in the Blue Hall on the campus of the Faculty of Medicine on Wednesday morning, June 15th, 2022.
The meeting began with a speech from the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh, who welcomed the students and saluted them for their keenness to upgrade their school to be at the best levels, which will benefit them during their presence there as students and after their graduation as doctors. The Dean offered his congratulations to his daughters and sons who graduated this year after the decision was issued to graduate them by the Deans Council with the degree of MD. As the first batch to graduate with this degree after the accredited degree was MB.BS.
The dean told the students that a specialized center exam will be open on campus to analyze the exams before issuing them and after they are performed in a scientific way. In the other hand, the computerized exam halls inside the campus will all be equipped to allow all medical courses exams held on campus and in the open way system.
Dr. Bashaireh asked our students to actively contribute by giving their opinions frankly in each questionnaire distributed to them at the end of each course, and he explained to them that his office is open as it has always been for any student who wants to present a problem, suggestion or inquiry to the Deanship.
Then Dr. Nisreen Bataineh, the Dean Assistant for Accreditation and Quality Assurance Affairs, spoke to the students and introduced them to the quality program in the school, stressing on that they are the most important part of this program and that their views are the deanship’s guide to development in various fields of medical education. Dr. Bataineh alerted the students about the necessity of their presence in the curriculum development committees and other various quality assurance committees. Representatives of them have been appointed already in these committees.
After Dr. Nisreen’s speech, the opportunity was given to the students to share their ideas. They presented their perceptions of improving the level of academic education and their aspirations for what they see in their interest during their university studies and after their graduation. The Dean and his assistant answered the students’ inquiries and question that were very important and focused. Most of them discussed the issues of curriculum development.
The dean clarified that the faculty of Medicine/YU has already started the process of curriculum development by forming many committees for this purpose in the basic stage , the clinical stage and integrated committee for the whole MD. course. Those committtees are responsible for curriculum and instructions modifications as well as reconsidering the basic stage ( body systems components) and the way of evaluation.
The students' suggestions were written down for discussion in the various committees of the school. Continuous and regular communication in different means including face to face meetings will stay as deanship’s policy.
A surgical team led by Dr. Saleh Abo Oroq , the Assistant Professor in Urology, Department of Clinical Medical Sciences ( CMS ) has done a surgical acheivement for Princess Basma Teaching Hospital by doing a Laser lithotripsy for kidney and ureteric stones for the first time in the hospital, using a flexible ureterorenoscopy. The surgical team also consisted of Dr. Ashraf Khasawneh and Dr. Majd Marji. The patient's postoperative status is excellent and was discharged in the next day.
The Anesthetist and ICU consultant Dr. Abdul Rahman Alawneh participated in the operation as well as the urology residents: Dr. Yousef Beshtawi, Dr. Alaa' Bdoor and Dr. Sulaiman Abu-Joudeh. The staff nurses Walaa' AlAbdeh, and Israa' Bani Ismael did the nursing job in the team.
Faculty of Medicine @ Yarmouk University was honored to host more than thirty distinguished consultants and specialists in obstetrics and gynecology from various sectors (Universities, Ministry of Health, Royal Medical services and Private) from Amman and Irbid to participate in the oral exams to evaluate sixth year medical students in the course of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The participants expressed their admiration for the scientific level achieved by our students and for organizing and coordinating the exam, thanking the efforts of the department’s coordinator, Dr. Suhair Qudsieh, and fellow teachers.

On Wednesday, 18 May 2022, the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences at Al-Ahliyya Amman University hosted Professor Dr. Mazhar Al-Zoubi, From Yarmouk University School of Medicine where he conducted an interesting scientific lecture to the audience about his research path and the latest results of his scientific studies along with his research team in the field of fertility at the molecular level.
On the sidelines of the lecture, Professor Dr. Mohammed Al-Tannani, Dean of the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences and Director of the Center for Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Research, hosted Professor Dr. Al-Zoubi in his office and exchanged talks on ways to enrich research cooperation. Dr. Al-Tanani accompanied Professor Dr. Al Zoubi on a tour of the Center for Pharmaceutical and Diagnostic Research at Al-Ahliyya Amman University, accompanied by Dr. Hamdi Nusairat, where the latest research devices unique to the Center were demonstrated, where those devices will help increase the opportunities for research cooperation between Al-Ahliyya Amman University and distinguished scientists such as Professor Dr. Mazhar Al Zoubi.
Dr. Zeina Alami, Associate Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medical Sciences, said the lecture is one of a series of lectures aimed at sharing knowledge and expertise where she coordinates a series of scientific and research lectures at the behest of the Dean of the Faculty, on Wednesday of each week, and hosts scientists from within the university, sister universities and international universities, to expand the horizons of scientific research among faculty members and graduate students in the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences, as well as to enhance research cooperation between local and international scientific authorities.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Mazhar Al-Zoubi is a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at Yarmouk University School of Medicine, he is also an Assistant to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Scientific Research and Alumni and Foreign Relations. He holds a Doctorate in Experimental Molecular Oncology from the University of Pisa, Italy, a U.S. Fellowship in Scientific Research Ethics from the University of North Carolina, a Master of Clinical Biochemistry from the Jordan University of Science and Technology, a Higher Diploma in Medical Laboratories from the University of Jordan, and a Bachelor of Life Sciences from Yarmouk University. He has more than 85 papers published in international well-indexed journals and is an editor of special editions in several international journals and an arbitrator of many research studies in various internationally classified journals and has supervised and discussed several master's and doctoral dissertations in Jordan and Germany. Furthermore, he is an arbitrator for the accreditation of specialties in Arab universities, and project manager in the Erasmus Plus Program. At the end of the lecture, Dr. Mohammed Al-Tannani, Dean of the Faculty of Supporting Medical Sciences, presented Professor Dr. Al-Zoubi with a certificate of appreciation and the shield of Al-Ahliyya Amman University.

The Tenth International Medical Conference was held at the Professional Associations Complex, Irbid Branch, under the auspices of Prof. Khaled Al-Salem, President of Jordan University of Science and Technology, which is organized by the Medical Association, Irbid Branch, in partnership with the faculties of medicine at Jordan University of Science and Technology and Yarmouk University. The conference was held from 25-27 May 2022.
