The Faculty of Medicine condoles the family of our beloved lost young doctor, Our condolences are presented as well to his friends and colleagues.

May Allah give them all the patience and the peace after this sad loss.

We invite you to participate in the event of observing the partial solar eclipse in cooperation with the Astro-Jo Foundation, which specializes in astronomy and space sciences, where we will be provided with free special glasses to see the eclipse from 1 to 3 pm in the front yard of the Faculty of Medicine campus.

Dear students

  Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Manar Al-Lawama, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, an orientation meeting will be held with new students (first-year students) on Thursday Oct 13^th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in PHu04 (Potash Hall) in Prince Hussein bin Abdullah Building. YU main campus

Under the auspices of the Director of Irbid Governorate Health Directorate, Dr. Shadi Bani Hani, and as part of the awareness campaign activities for the month of "Pink October", the International Month for Breast Cancer Awareness, under the slogan "Picture of Life.... Check" and in cooperation with the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program and the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University, an educational awareness lecture entitled “Breast Cancer Awareness and the Importance of Early Screening” was held on Thursday 27/10/2022 at the Comprehensive Health Center of Yarmouk University.

The attendance included a group of mothers and the patients and visitors at the health center, including university employees and YU medical students, in addition to the health center’s staff, with the participation of fifth-year students at FM/YU within the family medicine course. Dr. Yasser Freihat, Director of Yarmouk University Health Center, began the lecture with a welcoming speech to the distinguished guests and attendees, and spoke about the importance of early detection of breast cancer, based on his medical experience.

Then, the trainer Ghada Bakkar, liaison officer of the Jordanian Breast Cancer Program, spoke about the importance of early detection of breast cancer and the mechanism of monthly self-examination, and mentioned the statistics related to the incidence of breast cancer over the past and present years, in addition to explaining the Jordanian program for early detection of breast cancer and the mechanism of its work and how female citizens can access it in the centers spread throughout the Kingdom.

Dr. Dina Qa’adan, the Family Medicine specialist and the Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University, spoke about the risk factors for breast cancer, the warning symptoms of breast cancer, how the annual clinical examination works in the clinic, and the emphasis on the importance of the screening annual mammogram for the cases vulnerable to breast cancer, especially those aged 40 years and over, where the disease can be diagnosed in its early stages, thus increasing the chances of survival.

The family of the Faculty of Medicine, represented by the Deanship and the administrative and teaching staff, held a ceremony on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, to honor the former Dean, Prof. Khaldoon Al-Bashaireh. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Manar Al-Lawama accompanied the honored guest to the ceremony venue, accompanied by her deputies and assistants. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Mervat Al-Sous, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, and by members of the teaching and administrative staff of the Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Al-Lawama, Dean of the College, gave a speech in which she welcomed Prof. Dr. Al-Bashaireh and praised his great contributions during his time at the head of the Faculty administration, and wished him success in his career.

Then Dr. Al-Bashaireh gave a speech in which he thanked the family of the Faculty of Medicine for this kind gesture and praised their work as a team so that the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University became one of the top medical schools in Jordan.

The group photos were taken with the former Dean as a souvenir and a sign of recognition of the good professional relationship that prevails in the Faculty.

At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Manar Al-Lawama presented the university's shield to the former dean, as well as a souvenir gift from the family of the FM/YU.

The Deans Council in Yarmouk University decided to promote Dr. Ayman Al-Zoubi a member of the teaching faculty members in Basic Medical Sciences Department (BMS)  from a rank of   

Assistant professor to a rank of Associate Professor

Today Tuesday 25-10-2022, an event was held to observe the partial solar eclipse, which was coordinated by the Deanship of the Faculty of Medicine represented by Dr. Laila Matalqa, Assistant Dean for Students and Alumni Affairs, in cooperation with the Astro-Jo Foundation headed by Dr. Alaa Alazzam; this foundation specializes in astronomy and space sciences, whose representative attended to guide the attendees on the best and safe way to observe the eclipse

The event was attended by a large group of medical and pharmacy students in the outside front yard of the Faculty campus. The students and attendees were provided with free special glasses to see the eclipse. The event ended with the end of the important astronomical event that will reappear in Jordan after five years.

Under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University, Prof. Manar Al-Lawama, the orientation meeting with new students in the FM/YU for the academic year 2022-2023 was held on Thursday Oct. 13^th, 2022. The meeting was attended by deputies and assistant deans, a number of faculty members and the administrative staff of the Faculty of Medicine.

The Deans Council in Yarmouk University decided to promote two of the teaching faculty members as follows :

Dr. Laila Matalqa from Basic Medical Sciences Department (BMS) from a rank of Assistant professor to a rank of Associate Professor   

Dr. Khaled Seetan from clinical Medical Sciences Department (CMS) from a rank of Assistant professor to a rank of Associate Professor
