Under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University, Prof. Manar Al-Lawama, the orientation meeting with new students in the FM/YU for the academic year 2022-2023 was held on Thursday Oct. 13th, 2022. The meeting was attended by deputies and assistant deans, a number of faculty members and the administrative staff of the Faculty of Medicine.
Prof. Al-Lawama congratulated the new students for joining the family of the Faculty of Medicine, calling on them to exert maximum efforts and assume responsibility to be able to achieve excellence in their academic career and to move at a steady pace in their academic life and enter the practical life in the field of medicine efficiently and worthy.
In her turn, Dr. Laila Matalqa, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni and Community Service, spoke about the importance of knowing the laws of the Faculty of Medicine and university and the legal administrative sequence to be followed to deliver their requests regarding their academic affairs, and the need to know and be familiar with their rights and duties through the student’s guide book and the need to know the laws and regulations that pertain to medical students in their study plan, and the regulations it includes from one year to another, stressing the importance of adhering to what is written in the Student Handbook, which is the first reference for Yarmouk University students. She also stressed the need to adhere to the ethics of dress- Dress Code of FM/YU.
Dr. Matalqa introduced the students to their academic advisor for the first year, Dr. Ejlal Abu El-Rub, who in turn introduced herself and welcomed all students' inquiries about their academic path during times that will be announced by the FM/YU deanship.
Then, Dr. Mohammad Akram Awwad gave an introduction to the new students about the official website of FM/YU and how to access the student’s guide and the forms they need by browsing it, in addition to browsing the different menus in the website of the Faculty of Medicine including the students’ station there, and where the official news and announcements issued by the Deanship of the FM/YU can be obtained. The meeting also included a presentation of an introductory video about the Faculty's facilities, departments, laboratories and teaching halls.
