The Dean in a radio seminar about students' safe return to campus after vaccination

A radio seminar about the present local COVID-19 situation in Jordan and its effect on the academic teaching especially on the medical student in Jordan was held on May 25th, 2021 via Jordan University radio  station. It also discussed the possibility of safe return to direct teaching ( face-face) in the next academic year in the shadow of the governmental orientation towards vaccinating university student and faculty members to cover this important sector in the society. 

The radio program under the name of ( without hesitation) was hosted by Ms. Aman Al-Saeh. Her guests in the seminar were:

Prof. Yaser Rayyan , Faculty of Medicine Dean/ Jordan University

Prof. Khaldoon Bashaireh, Faculty of Medicine Dean/ Yarmouk University 

Prof. Nael obeidat, Faculty of Medicine Dean/ Jordan University of Science and Technology

Mr. Muhannad AlKhatib , the spokesman of ministry of Hgih education and scientific research

In his intervention the Dean of faculty of Medicine appreciated the step of vaccinating the faculty members and the medical students in a project between the ministry of health and misistry of high education in order to resume the return to in-campus teaching-learning process in this next acdemic year. He clarified the steps taken by the administration of Yarmouk University to let this project succeed; by registering the employees and students who has already been infected by COVID 19 and the number of who has already got the vaccine.Those statistics will help in regulating the campaign in the university. In addition to that, an interim plan of the specialties which will be in different priorities of getting vaccine.

Medical students in the clinical years will be the first priority because they are exposed to patients in the hospitals, then students in the specialties that require field training, then the students in the specialties which needs laboratory work groups. and so on

In a preliminary statistics of medical students in the clinical years that have already been vaccinated, the percentage of students who got vaccinated already before the new campaign. the percentage of the students that will join the sixth final year is 45% , the percentage in students up to the 5th year next semester is about 25% and the percentage in students up to 4th year next semester is about 35%.

He finally wished the best health and sfety for all the people of Jordan, and the desire of everyone in the faculty of medicine, teachers, administrative staff and students and their families to return to the in-campus teaching, although the in-hspitals training was resumed but it is always under supervision and revision according to the epidemiological situation in the country.
