The Yarmouk University Students Union (YUSU) was established in 1992 and it has a legal personality. It is located on the university campus and works on:
- Building an integrated student personality that is aware of the issues of her/ his nation.
- Boosting the belonging character to thr university, the homeland and the nation.
- Strengthening the relationships between the students from one side and the faculty members and the employees from the other side inside their faculties and in the university as a whole.
- Representing the students officially before the university.
- Adopting the students' issues to acheive their interest in line with the university legislation and instructions.
The role of the Faculty of Medicine representatives in YUSU is to be a link between medical students and the administrations of the faculty and the university. They convey to them the demands and the academic needs of the students and presenting them whenever their voice is to be heard. They have to deal with the difficulties their colleagues face and suggest the solutions before the university departments.
In addition to these responsibilities the representative have a role in harmony with the other teams in the faculty to set up the volunteer activities that serve the university and the community.
The medical students elect their representatives in annual elections held by the Deanship of Students Affairs with supervision by Faculty of Medicine teaching staff. In the first six years of medical students participation in the YUSU, the number of the faculty representatives was three each year, and it was increased to four in the academic year 2020-2021.
