Farah Freihat

Greetings,

 I am Farah Freihat, a sixth-year student at the Faculty of Medicine at Yarmouk University. I recently completed a clinical training program spanning from November to January in Carbondale, Illinois, USA, focusing on pediatrics and internal medicine at Southern Illinois Healthcare Medical Group . 

 This experience was both profound and transformative. Under the mentorship of esteemed physicians such as Dr.Bleichner and Dr. Wreikat , I honed my clinical acumen and expanded my medical knowledge. Beginning with pediatrics, I worked diligently alongside Dr. Bleichner at Memorial Hospital and its outpatient clinics ( Medical Arts ) , where I was exposed to a diverse array of pediatric cases. Subsequently, my training progressed to internal medicine under the guidance of Dr. Wreikat at Herrin Hospital where I gained invaluable insights into the complexities of patient care, from admission to treatment planning.

 While initially daunting, particularly navigating the nuances of the American accent, my communication skills steadily improved over time. I found the local community to be exceptionally welcoming, demonstrating genuine interest in my background and offering gracious compliments, which served to enrich my experience further.

 Moreover, I had the pleasure of spending the holidays with my family during my time in Carbondale, and I am deeply grateful for their support and hospitality during my stay. Additionally, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring other cities such as St. Louis and Chicago during my visit, further broadening my cultural experiences and enriching my time in the United States.

I am also keenly interested in returning to Carbondale in the near future, as I have developed a strong affinity for the community and a desire to further immerse myself in its medical environment.

 In summary, this clinical rotation provided me with a comprehensive understanding of medical practice in a multicultural setting, fostering personal and professional growth. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity and look forward to applying the knowledge and skills acquired to my future endeavors in the field of medicine.
